SCALGO was founded in 2009 in Aarhus, Denmark with the mission to bring cutting-edge massive terrain data-processing technology to market. SCALGO software builds on more than two decades of basic and applied research on I/O-efficient and geometric algorithms at Center for Massive Data Algorithms (MADALGO) at Aarhus University, Denmark, and at Duke University in the U.S., in collaboration with industry LIDAR and environmental GIS application experts. The SCALGO founders are world-leading researchers at these institutions. SCALGO maintains close ties to a number of research partners in order to continually improve and extend its software and service portfolio.
