1. Do not guess - know your watersheds!

Terrain-based flow paths and watersheds are a good starting point to almost any flood management plan. Use interactive analyses, together with Environment Agency's flood maps, to make a systematic screening of watersheds in your project area.

2. Create flood detention easily along rivers and flow paths

Creating detention volumes is a good way to reduce flood challenges downstream. Find suitable locations for flood detention measures and test your ideas directly in the terrain model.

3. Communication is the key to mutual understanding

Collaboration with stakeholders is an important part of flood management. Use easy tools to explain your ideas and to ensure that everyone is on the same page.

4. Slow down surface water by changing the gradient

Give surface water more time to reach the river by changing the gradient. Use the profile tool to make a screening of gradients along tributaries and re-meander streams with terrain editing tools.
