New release: Depressions with detailed water depths

Recently, we added a new feature to the Depression map based on requests from users. Now you can easily work with depths in depressions.
This latest update is, for example, useful when designing ponds and wetlands with focus on biodiversity. To attract different types of species, it is important to create terrains with variations in water depths, slopes and more.

Easy visualisation of depths
We’ve added the banded style some time ago to help visualize volumes and areas in depressions. Now depressions can also be styled based on depth. In figure 2, all green areas have a maximum depth of 0.5 m, yellow represent 0.5- 1.5 m, and red areas have a depth larger than 1.5 m.
With this new styling you can easily describe variations in depths in flooded areas, wetlands, basins etc.

Also, if you click on a depression with the point query tool, we now tell you the depth in that precise point, together with volume and area information. See figure 3 for an example.

Describe depths in your terrains and landscapes
Remember to also use the depression map when you work with terrain editing.
Use different terrain editing tools to change the shape of a terrain, as shown in figure 4. With the depression map you can describe depths in the terrain you’ve created.
