Switzerland is now in Scalgo Live

  • Nya releases

Switzerland is the 13th country to be added to Scalgo Live with detailed elevation data and ready-made surface water analyses.

Swisstopo and BAFU provide high-resolution geospatial data for Switzerland. SwissALTI3D is a highly accurate digital elevation model that is updated every six years. It includes elevation data in up to 0.5 m resolution. Complementing this, swissTLM3D is a comprehensive 3D vector dataset describing over 20 million landscape features across eight topics, including roads, buildings, and hydrography. For a historical perspective, SWISSIMAGE HIST provides black and white orthophoto mosaics of Switzerland from 1946-1998.

All this is now available in Scalgo Live with together with the ready-made surface water analyses you already know.

To welcome Switzerland to Scalgo Live we have explored three iconic sites - the Rhône River, Finsteraarhorn Mountain, and the city of Zürich. See how you can use the easy and interactive tools in Scalgo Live to create surface water solutions suited to Switzerland's distinctive landscapes.

Explore the Rhône River: Switzerland's enchanting waterway

The Rhône river spans about 812 km from the Rhône Glacier in Switzerland to the Mediterranean Sea. Its banks vary from steep, erosion-prone slopes in the upper reaches to meandering alluvial plains in the lower sections, supporting fertile agriculture. Seasonal snowmelt and rainfall influence its hydrology, leading to fluctuating water levels that can impact infrastructure and surroundings.

Climb Mount Finsteraarhorn, the majestic peak of the Swiss Alps

The Finsteraarhorn, standing at 4.3 km, is the highest peak in the Bernese Alps and a jewel of the Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Site. Located between Bern and Valais, this distinctive mountain offers a challenging climb through dramatic glacial landscapes. The peak remains a popular destination for experienced mountaineers seeking alpine adventure and stunning panoramic views.

Visit Zürich, the vibrant heart of Switzerland

Zürich sits at 408 meters above sea level, nestled at the northwestern tip of Lake Zürich, near the Alps. The city's landscape is defined by the Limmat and Sihl rivers, flowing through wooded hills and valleys. Zürich features a diverse terrain shaped by glacial activity, with the Uetliberg mountain rising to 869 meters and offering panoramic Alpine views.
