Simplified contour editing tools with expanded functionality
- New releases
Contour lines are used by designers, engineers, and architects as a shared visual language to communicate how elevation varies across a site.
In Scalgo Live, it is easy to edit elevation data using contour editing tools. These tools are perfect for creating natural-looking terrains. Explore how contour editing tools have been updated to make it even simpler to design detailed, and smooth terrain features.
Seamless design workflows
In Scalgo Live, blending areas create smooth transitions between the elevations assigned to a proposed terrain feature and the existing surface. Blending areas create natural-looking designs and avoid abrupt grade changes, or unintended drainage patterns.
For the first time, define the boundary of a blending area before drawing any contour edits, streamlining the design workflow. Newly drawn edits will automatically interpolate elevations between each other, and smoothly tie into the surrounding terrain.
Define blending areas to automatically interpolate between new contours.
Optimised right sidebar
The right sidebar now provides more control over contour editing tools. Edit blending areas and choose custom blending ranges using the new input field "Blending area at distance".
Leverage customisable blending areas to produce conceptual designs faster.
Discover the potential of blending overlapping contour groups into each other. Select contour lines from groups you wish to merge and combine them into a single terrain feature.
Swiftly overlap and merge contour groups together.
Supplement existing features
While using any of the contour editing tools, convert edits to blending areas and back again, creating seamless boundaries between proposed features and the underlying terrain. Export contour groups with a single click to share work with colleagues, or across programs.
New capabilities are featured under the right-click menu of Scalgo Live contour tools.
For easy access, these new capabilities appear under the right-click menu when using the contour editing tools, joining options for smooth to polygonal curve conversion, order specification, and deletion.
Explore the undelying terrain
It is often helpful to examine contour lines of the underlying terrain. Use the extract contour lines tool to make existing hillsides editable. The updated tool now allows you to expand the extracted contour feature by adjusting the blending area.
For elevations that do not correspond to regular intervals, simply right-click anywhere in the workspace while using the contour editing tools, and generate an auxiliary contour to visualise the selected elevation across the terrain.
Extract contours and generate auxiliary contour lines for any elevation you are interested in.
