Copernicus GLO-30 and ESA WorldCover datasets in Scalgo Live global.

Copernicus GLO-30 DEM - even better elevation data across the globe

Scalgo Live Global theme has been updated with the Copernicus GLO-30 Digital Elevation Model (DEM) which offers a global 30-meter resolution elevation data. The dataset surpasses the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), which was previously used in Scalgo Live, in accuracy and quality. The dataset became accessible for use in 2019 and is scheduled to be maintained through 2026.

The Copernicus DEM minimises noise, handles terrain features better, and provides consistent global coverage. With these improvements you can explore more accurate watersheds and flow paths everywhere in the world.

ESA WorldCover - High-resolution land cover insights

The ESA WorldCover dataset provides global land cover data at 10-meter resolution, classified into 10 categories including cropland, shrubland, and built-up areas.

Integrated into Scalgo Live, you can quickly calculate the percentage of each land cover class within a watershed. This detailed classification is valuable input for runoff calculations and flood risk assessments. You can also download the dataset for external analyses.

Your own data in Scalgo Live global

The global theme in Scalgo Live offers an excellent starting point for initial large-scale surface water assessments.

However, for more localised and detailed studies, you can enhance the accuracy of your analyses by utilising your own high-resolution elevation or land cover data.

To do this, simply upload your datasets to a workspace in Scalgo Live and get all the detailed surface water analysis you already know.
