New contour line products from detailed elevation model

The Danish Geodata Agency maintains a national elevation model in 40-centimeter resolution and 5-centimeter vertical precision. This elevation model consists of more than 250 billion elevation points. SCALGO used the model to produce two national contour line products for the Danish Geodata Agency: the reference and the shape contour line product. The reference contour line product consists of very precise contour lines with a guaranteed maximum deviation from the elevation model in x-, y- and z-direction. The shape contour line product consists of cartographically smoothened contour lines that represent the main topographic features in the terrain. The shape contour line product only guarantees maximum deviation in the z-direction.

National computation of flood risk from watercourses

The Danish Coastal Authority is responsible for implementing the EU Floods Directive in Denmark. During the implementation of the first part of the second stage process of the floods directive in 2017, SCALGO executed a nationwide screening that showed, where the risk of flooding from watercourses was greatest. The screening was computed on the Danish Elevation Model in 40-centimeter resolution with input date consisting of GeoDanmark watercourses and surface runoff data from GEUS (Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland).

Calculation of coastal polygons in several map scales to the Danish Geodata Agency

During the production of land and sea maps of Denmark, the Danish Geodata Agency needed a polygon which marked the entire coastline of Denmark. With the basic data from Geodanmark, SCALGO developed a calculation method to produce a costal polygon of Denmark in five different scales: 1:10,000, 1:25,000, 1:50,000. 1:100,000 and 1:250,000.
