SCALGO has released new versions of the SCALGO Hydrology and SCALGO Utility software packages, both containing significant new functionality that enables users to do even more with their massive terrain data sets. The software packages have successfully been used to process terrain data sets with more than 50 billion data elements on a normal desktop computer.
The updates to the SCALGO Hydrology package include a new Adjoint Catchments module that can be used to delineate the upstream areas of a set of points. Furthermore the Watersheds module has been updated such that it can now also output polygons (in a shapefile) delineating watersheds or catchments.
The updates to the SCALGO Utility package include a new Partition module that can be used to partition a raster (or point) data set according to a set of polygonal regions (e.g. provided through a shapefile). This e.g. makes it easy to partition a large raster data set into data sets corresponding to local administrative boundaries. A second new module Vectorize can be used to construct polygons corresponding to same-value regions in a raster. This can e.g. be used to convert raster watersheds into polygons.
All SCALGO software can be run through a standalone graphical user interface or from within ArcGIS and also include an ArcGIS viewer that allows for easy visualization of the output of many of the SCALGO modules.

Scalable Algorithmics (SCALGO) was founded with the mission to bring cutting-edge big terrain data processing technology to market. The SCALGO technology is based on more than two decades of basic and applied research on I/O-efficient and geometric algorithms at Center for Massive Data Algorithmics (MADALGO) at Aarhus University in Denmark and at Duke University in the US, in collaboration with industry LiDAR and environmental GIS application experts. SCALGO provides a range of desktop software, analysis and online large-area detailed terrain data set processing and analysis products.
