Land cover – Mapping

The high-resolution land cover map in SCALGO Live is produced by SCALGO based on machine learning techniques. It is available as a standalone layer in the Land Cover category in the library.

Note, the land cover map is not available for all countries, please consult the country specific documentation for more information.

Watershed queries

When you perform a watershed query you can see the land cover distribution of the watershed.

Land cover information aggregated into a watershed query.

Annotated administrative regions

In the countries where we have released the land cover map, we have also annotated a number of datasets with aggregated land cover information. This could be: cadastral parcels, sewer catchments, planning zones and municipal regions, but the exact set of layers depends on data availability in each country. You can find these layers in the Land Cover category alongside the land cover map itself. For each area in those data sets we have added a field that provides the total artificial area in the region, as well as the ratio of artificial area to natural area in the region.

Land cover aggregated at the cadastral level. Each cadastral unit is colored according to how much artificial area it contains. For a complete breakdown of the land cover composition of a cadastral unit you can use the point query tool.

Below is the full list of our land cover classes. Their numeric ID is provided for reference, in case the map is downloaded. Please note that not all classes may be available in each country.
