Exporting site models for CAD – Site models for generic CAD software

You can follow the workflow below to get a generic CAD model out from Scalgo Live.  In the Generic format, you receive separate triangulated meshes for roads, water, and the rest of the terrain. This allows to quickly visualize a 3D scene in any CAD software that can read DWG files.

The resulting site model in the Autodesk online viewer.

  1. Export from Scalgo Live
Export the desired area targeting Generic as software.

  2. Open in any CAD software supporting import from DWG files
    • Open the exported file directly.

    • Alternatively, import it into an existing project template.

  3. Projection
The exported file is projected to the spatial reference system defined in Scalgo Live.

  4. Layering
Layers are organized according to land cover classes defined in Scalgo Live.
More information on land cover classes.

  5. Editing geometry
Roads, water, and the remaining terrain are exported as separate meshes.
Buildings are exported as 3D blocks.
